Livelihoods for caregivers

Without improved economic security in Kampala, Kyegegwa and Yumbe, caregivers cannot adequately provide responsive caregiving nor facilitate early learning.

Livelihoods for caregivers

Secure livelihoods are essential for parents and caregivers to meet their children’s daily basic needs and make critical investments in their futures.

We provide agricultural, business skills, and financial literacy training to selected households. We engage agricultural communities (who represent a majority in Yumbe and Kyegegwa) to adopt nutrition sensitive agricultural practices that can help to meet children’s nutritional needs, as well as contribute to household income through sales of extra produce to the local markets.

Progressive business ideas are supported with start-up funding and complemented with appropriate linkages to key enabling inputs to their businesses – such as capital, seeds for farms or tools for a carpentry studio – in all locations. We are especially interested in the possibility of business ideas that can feed into ECCD systems.
